Notes - From the Podium

Dear Parents, and New and Returning Students:

Please join the EHS Music Boosters in welcoming Mr. Zachary Deeter as our new Director of Bands, Orchestra and Choir at Estero High School.  Mr. Deeter is a recent graduate of Furman University and has earned a BA degree in Music – Music Education.   He and Mr. Pardee have been in contact to discuss transition related matters and he is working on preparing for the fast-approaching marching season.  Mr. Deeter is anxious to get started, and based on initial conversations, he will be a good fit for our program, and yes, he has marching band experience.  He expressed a strong desire to work in a collaborative manner with both students and parents to make participation in the music program a fun, challenging, rewarding experience for everyone involved. 

Mr. Deeter currently resides in Clemmons, North Carolina and is making arrangements to relocate to the Fort Myers area.  As soon as it is practical, a meet and greet will be arranged. 

For now, please be aware of the following: 

♫      Music for this year’s show can be found under the "Documents" tab.  Click "Marching Wildcats."

♫      Band Camp will proceed as scheduled (Full Band Camp August 9 – 13, 8am-8pm).

♫      Leadership (8/4, 8-2pm) and Freshmen Camps (8/5 & 8/6, 8-noon) will be held as scheduled.

♫      The next regular Booster meeting will be 8/10/10 at 7pm in the band room.  The board meeting will be held 8/3/10 at 6pm in the band room.  Your attendance is encouraged at either or both of these meetings.

♫      Further discussion about competitions and other seasonal events will take place once Mr. Deeter arrives.

♫      Kevin Devitt and Jason Staas will return as staff this year along with Elizabeth Mitton who will be our new Color Guard instructor.

Programs - Marching Wildcats

·         August 4-6, 8am-2pm, leadership

·         August 5-6, 8:00am-noon, freshmen

·         August 9-13, 8:00am-8:00pm, full marching band

·         August 13: Friday evening, first performance (no camp Saturday) 

No overnights, but there will be fun activities organized by leadership as in prior years.

·         Mondays and Thursdays

·         Wednesdays -  Sectionals 2:00 - 3:30pm
